OzHarvest

OzHarvest is Australia's leading food rescue organisation, collecting quality excess food from commercial outlets and delivering it, directly and free of charge, to more than 1,300 charities supporting people in need.

Ronni Kahn, OzHarvests founder, has an autobiography called 'A Repurposed Life' that details her inspiring story of creating and nurturing OzHarvest. This inspired me to join OzHarvests team as a food rescue driver and drive direct initiatives to support OzHarvest!

'Share the Dignity works to make a real, on the ground difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or doing it tough. We distribute period products to those in need and work to end period poverty here in Australia. When someone is doing it tough, the last thing on their mind should be dealing with their period.'

Started by a Brisbane mom, Rochelle Courtenay, Share the Dignity identified a direct need in the community and began taking action to helping those people! They have provided over 2.8 million pads and tampons to those who need them and The Giving Team aims to hosts digniTEA's to get some more!

'Everyone has a need for connection to others. But needs differ. Connection can be social, technological or employment related. Or it can be about connecting people to others who may be able to help.

We offer this connection face to face or over the phone. Our phone support team are volunteers from all over Australia who reach out to provide a check in for people in need. Our Connection Hub is a vehicle operated by volunteers who provide empathy and support. The Hub is outfitted with technology (coffee machine, mobile phones, laptop computers, printer/scanner/copier, smart TV) and has its own WiFi. A simple chat over a coffee can be of enormous comfort. - often that might be enough.

For others, we can provide access to mobile phones, or computers. For those keen to enter the workforce or change jobs, we help with writing a CV, preparing for interview or searching for work. For those who need other support like food, housing, medical advice we can connect you to appropriate organizations or people.'
